Ashtavargam Kashayam (a herbal decoction) Tablets from Sitaram Ayurveda are rooted in the classical idea of the Ashta Varga, a group of herbs the texts describe as nourishing and rejuvenating. The tablet form carries this decoction tradition in a measured, convenient way. Sitaram has prepared such classical formulations in Kerala since 1921.
What nourishment means in Ayurveda
In the classical view, nourishment is not simply the adding of calories. It is the process by which food and herbs are digested, transformed and carried to each layer of tissue, the dhatus. Ashtavargam Kashayam Tablets are traditionally thought to accompany this process, especially where Vata (the classical principle of movement and lightness) is prominent. The emphasis is on whole-body steadiness rather than the chasing of single sensations.
The Ashta Varga tradition
Though the exact list and availability of the Ashta Varga herbs can vary, the group is classically presented as plants renowned for their strengthening and Rasayana (rejuvenating) potential. In many classical descriptions these herbs are associated with:
- Steady, well-nourished dhatus (the body tissues of the texts).
- Comfortable, easy movement in the classical sense.
- A well-built body where the texts see a need.
- Clarity of mind and a settled, even temperament.
This broad classical spectrum is why Ashtavargam formulations are valued where general robustness is the aim.
A place in Dinacharya
Ashtavargam Kashayam Tablets settle best into a steady Dinacharya (daily routine) that already values nourishment and rest. Many keep them alongside:
- Warm, freshly cooked and easily digested meals.
- Gentle daily movement within one's comfort.
- Regular, restful sleep, the classical foundation of good nourishment.
Suggested dosage and care
Keep to the serving size printed on the label and take the tablets under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner if you have particular questions or use other strong preparations. Ashtavargam Kashayam Tablets are a food supplement and are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.
