Chiruvilwadi Kashayam (a classical Ayurvedic decoction) is prepared by Sitaram Ayurveda to traditional methods, following the recipes handed down through generations of Kerala practice. It is a traditional preparation offered in the form long favoured by the classical texts.
Chiruvilwadi Kashayam
The Kashayam tradition
Among the foundational preparations of Ayurveda, the Kashayam is made by slowly reducing selected botanicals in water so that their character is concentrated into a decoction. Such preparations are typically built around herbs of bitter and astringent Rasa (taste) and have long held a place within Dinacharya, the classical ordering of the day. In Ayurvedic thinking, a Kashayam is associated with the balancing of the three Doshas according to one's constitution.
How to use
Traditionally the decoction is taken with a measure of warm water, according to the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner. Introduce it gently and let it become a steady part of the daily routine. Keep the pack closed and stored in a cool, dry place.
