Dasamoola Harithaki Lehyam

A classical conserve in the Rasayana tradition

In the Ayurvedic kitchen a Lehyam is prepared without haste, by slowly reducing herbal decoctions with natural sweeteners and aromatic herbs until a smooth, spoonable conserve is reached. This traditional method is characteristic of the classical craft, where the preparing itself is regarded as part of the tradition. The name draws on Dasamoola, the celebrated classical group of roots, and on Haritaki (a revered classical fruit), giving the conserve its long standing place in the pharmacopoeia.

Within a regular daily routine

In Dinacharya (the traditional daily routine), a Rasayana such as this is taken calmly, usually in the earlier part of the day, as a regular part of the routine. Many households keep it through the cooler seasons, taken with a little warm water.

How to use

Take approximately one teaspoon with warm water, or as advised by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner. It is best enjoyed as part of an morning routine.

Heritage from Kerala
