Soundarya Choornam is a finely milled herbal powder prepared by Sitaram Ayurveda in the classical tradition, intended for external care of the skin. The name draws on Soundarya (a Sanskrit word for grace), and the preparation continues the long Ayurvedic custom of caring for the skin with botanical powders as part of the daily routine.
Ingredients
Symplocos racemosa, Coriandrum sativum, Rubia cordifolia, Vetiveria zizanioides, Prunus cerasoides, Ficus glomerata, Ficus lacor, Ficus benghalensis, Ficus religiosa, Curcuma longa, Callicarpa macrophylla, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Cyperus rotundus, Curcuma aromatica.
How to use
Mix ½, 1 teaspoon with water, rose water, or suitable medium to form a paste. Apply to the face or body. Leave on for 10, 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Use 2, 3 times weekly or as advised.
Soundarya Choornam
The Choornam form
A Choornam (a fine herbal powder) is among the most traditional of Ayurvedic preparations. For skin care it is customarily blended into a paste with water or another suitable liquid and applied as a gentle botanical treatment, in the manner of a classical ubtan (a herbal cleansing paste). Soundarya Choornam is composed to these traditional methods for such external ritual use.
How to use
Mix a small amount with a little water, rose water or another suitable liquid to form a smooth paste. Apply evenly to the skin, allow it to rest briefly, then rinse away with lukewarm water. Use as part of your weekly or daily skin-care ritual. For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes.
